Wrenching on the ST1100

August 31, 2003

Mark Frost (the host and head mechanic), invited Ed Krugman and myself to his home for a day of wrenching on the ST1100.   On the agenda was a rear end rebuild on Mark’s machine and a carb sync and radiator flush/service on Ed and my bikes.  Also on the agenda was an engine mount re-torque on my machine to try and solve an annoying 4000 RPM vibe in the handlebars.

All missions were accomplished and a good time was had by all.   FYI, the engine mount re-torque did address 80% of my vibration issue – my bike has only 4K miles on it and a new set of tires may do the trick for the other 20%.

Below are some photos from our day of maintenance….

a beautiful bright yellow over gray custom paint job on this bike.

This is the most plastic I have had of my bike since I bought it.

Ed’s bike stripped down for the radiator flush.

Mark’s rear-end project is well under way.

We have the bike pointed down the driveway for the radiator flush.  The hose is ready in case we spray coolant on the bikes (we didn’t).
